Serving Of Fruits

Ice cubes are normally colorless, but if a slice of lemon and mint leaf or a wedge of pineapple is added to the water while freezing, the cubes come alive and add an interest to the food and drink at your table. Fresh Fruits are served in a variety of ways. Children and adults are enamored by the luscious colors of seasonal fruits. Having a variety of fruits ensures that you get your supply of antioxidants.

You may choose to cube a variety of your fruits and serve on sticks. Another great way to store and use fresh fruit is to simply freeze them to use later or when they are off season. Making ice cubes out of fruit juice is a simple way to prepare and store fruit for later use or use in recipes. This does not in any way alter the taste or freshness or the nutritive value of the fruit you freeze.

What you need are fresh fruit juice and your ice trays from the freezer. Cut your fruits and remove skin, seeds and pips. Juice sufficient quantity in a blender to fill your ice trays. If you have ice trays to freeze cubes in different shapes, particularly fruity shapes, even better. Freeze until firm and use. If you need to store for longer periods, store in an ice pail or plastic containers inside the freezer. You will end up with fruit cubes of different colors and shapes which can be dropped into cocktails or fruit based preparations or simply allow to thaw and drink as it is. Children love to pick such fruit cubes right off the freezer tray so, to facilitate this, you can choose to press in some ice cream sticks into each cube as it begins freezing. A fruit punch can also be frozen for variety.

An alternative to the above, would be to press a slice(orange) or a wedge(pineapple) or a cube (watermelon) of fruit or a whole fruit (strawberry, cherry, grape) into water or juice in the ice cubes. These are used decoratively in cocktails and fruit juices when being served in glasses.

Avoid freezing fruits such as banana as it discolors quickly and becomes mushy as the cube melts. Choose fruits that are luscious and juicy such as mango, lemon, orange, pineapple, apple, kiwi, strawberry, raspberries. Watching an ice cube made of lime juice or orange juice melt in your drink can be refreshing and add an extra zing as well.

Serving of frozen fruit cubes makes one fresh and cool especially in the hot summer months.

I like the idea of frozen fruit cubes. Not only do they sound like they aredelicious but they are good for you. I believe kids and adults both would love them. You couldn't have come out with this hub at a better time - it's hotter than blazes out there.

I'd never thought of freezing fresh fruit, but we often freeze fruit juice in ice cube trays. It's a healthy Popsicle! :)

I am going to be taking care of my granddaughter for the summer and this seems like a great idea for an activity once in awhile. I am always looking for things to go with her. We always make a list of things that can be done that would be fun for each day of the week. This is a great one. Thanks.
